Well.. thats always been one great thing about America.

If I had a big enough wallet I'll own JBH and all their holdings in a hour as soon the transaction clears. Hostile or friendly sole ownership.

Land of the free. Anyone can start any company. Why does this piss people off? What if you were on the other side being told you can’t but they can. You’d be pissed off even more!

... And if you did own a large billion dollar outfit full of misfits... you would be pissed off too when handed a tirebill for about oh... 10 million for last years two outside trailer tires. On top of your morning fuel bill of a million due and payable by 330 today.

Or become like a Ridgeline, posting very short and occasional bursts illuminating for a moment all the trials and tribulations in the Board Room.

    HE HE HE... Teasing.

Edit, for 15000 tractors half tanks. Make that 7 million for the morning.

True, but when you have a couple million people entering the country each year between legal and illegals, have a few million Americans coming of working age, yet the country is estatic when we create 250k jobs per month, that’s going to drive down wages, drive down “rates”, decrease affordable housing, and increase the welfare state. Nothing against people not born here but these are the inevitable facts IMO. 5 mil new workers and 2.5 to 3 mil new jobs doesn’t add up year after year. Unfortunately though, good people that come in the legal way end up facing some frustrations from Americans but largely due to people coming in illegally.

To answer your question, if I was told I can’t, I’d still find a way! Yes, I’d say F em this is my chance! But, it still doesn’t change the fact that new workers out pace new jobs laregely due to immigration whether legal or illegal.

Let the flaming begin! I can take it. :)

This actually happens a lot in other markets too. Welding. Every welder is gonna go work for himself now so they go out and buy a truck and a weld gen and hit the pipe line. When work starts to slow which it does a lot because the whole industry is up and down they keep working be dropping their rate. Was 600/day now the norm is like 475/day because everytime it slows these idiots that didn't save their money still have a payment due on the 100k rig they just put together just keep dropping their rate until they keep moving. The oil companies know this too so they can force it down by slowing work. Same thing they do to the hotshotters that were all gonna be millionaires hauling the equipment and supplies out. That job paid $$$$$$ but now you can't even cover a truck payment doing it because everyone ran out to do it and had to keep dropping rates to get work to cover payments. Swinging wrenches is the same way. I owned a shop that was doing very well and when I sold it to move back to Florida the majority of the equipment came with me. I was gonna re open up shop here but can't. There is a shop on every corner in Tampa with signs that say brakes 39.99 and the like of that. These people have buried themselves in debt so bad that they will now work for pennies to stay afloat. Same thing with the trucking industry, people assume all this debt and a lot of them come from countries with lower living standards so they picked up $100 after they paid the truck on that run and they are happy where as you and I would touch it for that.

Hold it right there Scotty...you just hold it right there

As I have nothing against people coming here legally.....you folks are-NOT going to destroy what we built over time.

    Not on my watch.

I'll do my part and see that every customer that i know or have done business with, won't challenge American carriersthat have established themselves over time.as opposed to you folks coming here and stealing our show, legally or not.The only you guys will get is a brokers delight. You can make friends with them all day..you won't get any further than that

Cause I'll tell you one thing right now Scotty.....you don't see Americans wanting to go to eastern Europe taking anything from what they developed over time.

So you better stop right now......

90 percent of the problem is what i speak here.

Be a cold day in h e 1 1 , before I allow this to get any worse

I agree that some of my points are more important to the issue then others, but combining them all together makes for one hell of an issue.

take for example if 2-4 was not an issue, this would mean capacity wasn’t up, and only a small reduction in rates, but add 2-4 to 1 and 5 you get a bigger snowball.

Also...most people in the business came in during the past 9 or so years. Things have gone straight up in that time.

Let's see how tough or smart they are when the going gets hard.

do you feel that the steady influx of lease operators from mega carriers to be more harmful to this, or equally harmful to the new "buy your own truck and be an o/o type"?

cuz the lease to own from the mega carriers AND the buy my own types, are certainly cutting into any rates, aren't they?

how can any of this be stopped or slowed down? other than what you suggest, should trucking regulation be brought back..???

mega carriers have equipment through out the USA, small one truck o/o's can haul for the same money, just to get to another location, then of course, go under quicker.
