So, first a little backstory: I was running with a small company using the ELD they provided in the truck (Rand McNally) which pretty much sucked most of the time. Long story short, we had a lot of problems with it. So, when I went out on my own authority, I decided to try something else out. I settled on DriveELD because of price and it looked easy to learn. Here's my fleshed-out review after ~2 weeks of use for those of you who care or think you might want to switch from another provider.

Let me first say, this thing is way better than Rand McNally from what I've seen so far. I haven't really had a chance to use the IFTA function yet, but it seems like it's recording miles right when I check in on it. I ordered it for $180 (a year), and it's been smooth sailing since. I forgot to switch to off duty once and wanted to make sure I wasn't messing up, so I called their customer support around 9PM Iowa time and they helped me out in like two minutes. I was really impressed. Besides that, it connects automatically every time I get back in the truck, and it's crazy easy to use. Honest to God, I way prefer it to paper logs. I give the app a solid 5/5, it does everything I want it to. My one complaint is that it doesn't go horizontal, but that's really no big deal to me anyways.

I haven't had much time to use the back office yet besides adding myself as a driver, but from what I can see, it works great. I don't really need to use it much except for IFTA at the end of the quarter since I'm a solo op, but I can see that it would probably work well for anyone who would use the back office app more than me. If I have any problems, I'll edit this post or just add a reply on the thread. Let me know if you have any questions about it that I can try to answer. Otherwise, their customer support team answered my call real quick.

I'm in the process of setting up a carrier with this system, and even though I already asked their support team this question I figured since you already have it might as well make sure.

Is it true you can move Drive time to OFF-PC(when PC is enabled for driver)? I was told it could be done, since this is something I really liked about BigRoad in situations where drivers would forget to switch to OFF-PC when forced to leave by a receiver. This is also awesome to have for marking AG Exempt miles, since the other two options are a bit more "messy" in the backend.

Yeah, I had to do that in my first week when I forgot to change something in my log. That's what I had to call them about, to make sure I was doing it right. I changed drive time to off duty PC without a problem.

Thanks for the review. I just signed up with them. For anyone who drives hotshot, its an extra $25 for the OBDII for our trucks. So $205 up front for a year subscription.

Great that you like it. But give it time I'll bet you will have some upsets that slow you down for 24 hours. But than at least you can back up with paper for 6 days.

Hows this still working for you?

How much data does it use per month?
(thinking of getting a tablet to use for elog stuff)

I’m also on board with 5/5.
    Data-wise, it can’t be much.
My thinking is the only data it uses is for location tracking.

It’s a little bit of a challenge to insert either off duty/on duty because you can’t edit into drive time, but if I actually do my logs as I go, no issues haha.
I use so much pc time to save hours on my 70, and after 2 inspections, neither officer questioned it.
Also had a 2 minute pre-trip one day; forgot to switch from pc to off-duty one night, and did my pre-trip thinking I could just edit it. I wasn’t waiting another 30 minutes. Well, inspection the very next morning and officer didn’t catch it.

It's still working great for me. Filed IFTA stuff a couple of times now, and that works like a charm. They also added document scanning recently which is great. Like our friend above just mentioned, it doesn't use much data. I'm sitting right around 500 mb every month and I use it pretty much every day (within regulations). I think it just uses data to back up information to the cloud. To my knowledge, the GPS is in the actual device, so it's not even using my phone for location tracking.

Are you using DriveELD? I never have any trouble with switching duty statuses or editing my log if I need to. I've been able to edit into drive time the few times I've had to no problem. Apparently, you can't edit personal conveyance time though.
