Wow, I always thought the only difference was the size of rollers at brake shoe. Locking up empty is a very common problem. I wonder how many of those are from mid matched sizes. My old trailer did that, same with a friends, only empty, very dangerous in rain and snow. Worse than the old non abs trailers. They used to stick, and slide sideways for a few seconds, fun fun fun!!!

They’re a pita, I took all mine off 10 yrs ago. Now have 20 empty holes to fill. Same with a/c lights. Took originals off. Bought some fancy ones from a guy back during the Great Recession, along with a bunch of other junk for the dash, at Chrome shops as they were going out of bussiness. 30 + lights at $10-$15 each, not really a priority. It would be nice to get aluminum polished and lights back on. Little at a time. Right now it’s king pins and 5 th wheel.

Q and Q plus shoes use the same rollers. Pro Par ( Fruehauf ) use anchor pins with a larger diameter anchor pin to shoe size. They look very similar to Q's. I believe the distance between the anchor pin holes is different.
Fruehauf can be very confusing in itself as they made something like 5 different variations. Some were on non Fruehauf axles. Rodger Rabbit can say it isn't so but I have seen it.

I really should not have said that. Always say maybe and never always. Here is a picture of the gauge I mentioned. KIMG1594.jpeg KIMG1595.jpeg Pro Pars used the same 4515 lining as standard Q's. I wound not be surprised if someone is making Q and or Q+ linings with the larger anchor pin. More likely remachining worn out shoes to the larger pins on relinded shoes. I intended to do some other pictures and identification markers that I have found untrue in identification of shoes recently.
Had to crank out another clutch job instead.
It is a little off base for the original post anyway. However it gives some credit to buy new from the dealer for a couple of extra bucks. Still does not help me with the 38 year old trailer I was working on.

Don't Q shoes have little hump by anchor springs on the web and Meritor Q Plus original shoes had + stamps in the table. Don't miss the trailers we had with Freuhauf shoes. New guys always tried to put Q shoes on them.

Hump in the webb at the big single spring for Q's. That was one of the markers I wanted to mention. Do not bank on that anymore.
Original Q Plus did have the + stamped in them. Some replacements do not.
Wanted to have pictures. Otherwise you know it is not so.
Also meant brand name new dealer shoes.
