In my experience, owners of towing company are not known for their ability and willingness to conform to what other people may consider to be reasonable.
Here's the thing: the towing company is "right." It may not feel right, but that's not the issue.
To quote Davy Crockett "First, make sure you are right, then go ahead."
As an agent of the company who stiffed him for so long, you cannot possibly fulfill the first part of that saying, yet here you are trying to go ahead.
Pushing on this guy will never get the result you desire. Surrender is a valid tactic.
Apologize on behalf of the company for this unacceptable situation and be affable and accept the situation for what it is without animosity and he is now in a position where he MIGHT choose to be gracious, release the truck, and you can get on with your life. Or he may not, in which case you have lost nothing and might have begun to build good will with someone who could become a resource for you down the road.

Bottom line: their stupidity is costing you the driver from making money which is pretty much par for the course in trucking.
I'd have cleaned out that truck and told both parties to go pound sand. -
Supposedly this is being worked on by my company and a Bank Wire payment has been done. Understandlably, the towing company guy wants full confirmation of payment.
I'm probably going to just have a lazy weekend now as I wait and I should continue to accrue 'breakdown' pay. This is so weird.
I talked to a local cinema where I often see other trucks parking and they said they're fine with it if it's only for a few days at a time. The cinema is at a shopping center with it's own police station to.
I'm not going to renogotiate with the tow yard and pay myself because him and my company want to part ways. His lot is getting full of junked cars anyway and it gets to be a tight parking spot.D.Tibbitt and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -

Breakdown pay is better than nothing. But if that truck was rolling under a load, you'd be making alot more. This little tit-for-tat between your company and the owner is an opportunity cost to YOU, the driver. Why put up with that nonsense? Plenty of other driving jobs out there.

The owner of the lot will be compensated.
That’s a fact
They could at least give up the tractor and hold trailer hostage
That would be the classy thing to doD.Tibbitt and VIDEODROME Thank this. -

I wonder what they are telling the shipper and receiver? They surely are asking about their shipment.
