When I idle with tractor brakes set my front amber lights (inside headlight assembly) shut off... But if the temp is low enough that my the idle shut off wants to kill the truck I set the trailer brakes and release tractor brakes to override the idle shut off... This causes the front Amber lights (inside headlight assembly) to come on... It drives me nuts... But if it's over 70 degrees im idleing for A/C, idle shut down will kill the truck at any temp lower than 76 degrees.
Curious why guys run their lights during the day

LOL. I usually roll out around 4am. My lights are only on during daytime because I kinda forget they are on after sunrise.
D.Tibbitt, ncmickey, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just call them new breed running lights instead of daytime running lights.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
D.Tibbitt, Lepton1 and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

I keep my running lights on all the time the truck is running... even at night in a truck stop. If someone has to park next to me I want them to at least see my trailer.
Headlights come on at dusk... off when I park.D.Tibbitt, Lepton1 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

If I have my lights on during the day, it's because I started driving when it was dark and I haven't stopped yet......
D.Tibbitt and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Visibility.
Not so much on the interstate.. but any access highway or 2 lane... They're ON.Lepton1, homeskillet and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
to be as visible to other vehicles as possible
also eliminates all situations that could "go either way" with respect to if i should have them on or off, and drastically reduces the chances of me forgetting to turn them on in the daytime when its its raining
when i learned that Canada required drl's for safety I started always driving with my lights on (years ago in 4 wheelers)tarmadilo, magoo68, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I run them in poor lighting... Cloudy days... Fog.... Rain.... And when it's dark. Also in roadway that is completely covered in trees. Remember I drive rural areas mostly.
Lepton1 Thanks this.
