Just ask alot of questions even if u think they are dumb. Ask alot of questions about that log book and maje sure u really understand how to use it to your advantage because thata the gate keeper to all the money out here is managing your time wisely. No matter what kind of trainer u get , 4+ weeks cooped up in a place smaller than a jail cell with a stranger is tough so just work through it and always keep that solo truck on ur mind when things get tough. I promise training doesnt last forever. Good luck to you, keep the plastic side up
What to expect during my mentorship

The other thing I advocate for new people are large slurpees or icees.
Like the 64 ounce ones. Sometimes these get dumped in the truck, or even getting in the truck.
They are good to have to sip on during your driving shift.Sirscrapntruckalot and Linte_Loco Thank this. -

Your trainer will be snoring in the bunk while you scramble to figure out the chaos in the knoxville scales. If your trainer is anything good at all YOU two run by day regardless of appt times, miles or anything. You drive, trainer watches and teaches you. You listen and be quiet. Unless trainer gets either really stupid, fresh or touchy feeling. You fire that trainer asap with your company and get another.
But you will not be forced to mule, not be forced to try and think something you dont yet understand through and so forth.
be good. This too will soon be over and you will have all your own load and truck to run.
God help you. -
Once that’s done and I can stop renting, I want to do whatever pays the most. I’ve been eyeing some regional tanker jobs that were in the 88-90k range, but if OTR is where the money is I’ll stay there, but I’ll probably cut down to driving solo.
If I choose to stay on the road, eventually I’d like to buy my own truck, but we will save that can of worms for 5-10 years down the year.
Long term I need to save up enough to start a trust fund for my disabled son, and ideally start saving so I can run my own business in retirement.Just passing by, autopaint, G13Tomcat and 1 other person Thank this. -
