Its been awhile since I posted, so here goes: The miles have been good lately. 4400 previous week and 3400 this week. Also top driver for August. The truck is having a few issues, had a bad battery, peoplenet crashed again( thanks to TA in New Braunfels, TX) and lastly, student decided to get off the truck in Ohio to go home and get his new debit card since his bank closed his old card, and he couldn t go into a branch to get a new one.

I m thinking S and S getting into the training program may be a disastrous mistake. We ve already had 3 trainees quit so far. Its not like they re on the truck for 6 weeks. All they ask for is 10,500 miles which can be easily done in 3 to 3.5 weeks. I was going to sign off on my student getting his own truck as soon as we got to Grand Forks, but oh well.

We re supposed to have a decent size group coming in to Orientation this week. We ll see if the trucks will be ready, and if they re will be any empty van s or reefers for their first load. I m just waiting to see the reactions to the new hires pulling one of our infamous T series trailers lol

    I wouldn't train for less than a salary of 2k a week.

The one thing that irritated me about OTR lately was that people who didnt take hometime couldnt even break top 20, and I stood there while a driver said he did not want to be in the top 10 because he was happy at 10,500 so to stop running him so much. I was over it at that point, which is why I switched to tanker and hourly. No more 90 hour weeks, and I get paid for everything I do now. Still a pay cut, but I'm not running myself into the ground for nothing. Who knows though. I might eventually miss OTR.

My APU is dead, and I just stocked my fridge, so I'm hating this no idle timer at a certain temp thing. My fridge will die if I dont keep getting up to idle until the timer cuts it off. 69 degrees out and 88 in my truck with the windows open. I'm slightly cranky from lack of sleep. Ran from Anniston to Grand Forks. Have a few errands up here, then have to jet from Grand Forks to Atlanta in hopefully a little over two days, then get back to Anniston for a reset before I can get my next tanker run.

I offered to train, but they wont let females train males. Except if I only liked other females apparently. That one really chapped my hide. So I'm good not training. I see their point, but also feel a little discriminated against. When I found out they only wanted me to train females, and we get MAYBE 1-2 a year, what's the point?

Overall, I'm still happy here. Just wish they'd give me a darn freightliner already. Trying to maneuver into some of these tiny water treatment plants with the turn radius of a cruise ship is asking for trouble one of these days. Even the guy who trained me on tanker with the lime company we haul for said many places shouldn't even be receiving a truck with a sleeper, especially one that cant turn as sharp. Its putting every skill I have to the test lol.

As far as a female not training a male, that s not true at all. I was in the office with Davis and Kevin and they told me that S and S would now let trainers train other sexes. As a matter of fact, your best friend is a trainer and had a male on her truck. She outright told S and S that she would not train any females. Too much drama according to her.
