When we got ours they just went down the seniority list as they came in, twin screws to the linehaul drivers and single screws to the city guys.

What are the typical start times for city? (And roughly ending times? Although I know it varies day to day) I think I have seen on applications start times of 6 and 10am, but I could be remembering a different company. I wasn’t aware they varied that much. My goal is to get a city driver position with fedex/ups/etc. I know it’s less money but a normal-ish schedule and weekends off and typically not running out my clock every day is worth making less to me..lol

I imagine it varies widely by barn. My barn has 5am to 10am start times. New guys are on the 10am starts. But you aren’t touching the 7 or 5am start times for at least 10 years.

Work ends when they tell you to come back.

It took me 14 years to land a 6:00 AM start in an area I wanted.

At my terminal new city drivers start at noon. At the hub they start at 5pm.

Yea I’ve done OTR. Think you may be a liiiiitle insane if you want to go back to that lol running your clock out local does suck but atleast you can enjoy your days off at home and still make significantly more money. Atleast in my experience. And yea I wouldn’t mind starting at 10am for a few years until I can get earlier. I know I chose the wrong industry for “bankers hours” but the closer I can get to that the happier I’ll be lol I know each barn varies but I’m hoping one day I can get a day job that keeps it under 10-11 hours a day and still make a decent living...I’ll keep dreaming for now though

Start times vary by where you are at. How soon linehaul comes in will dictate when you can expect to come in. Our start times are anywhere from 2 AM till about noon. Usually the most senior guys will bid on the earliest start times to limit how much they will have to drive.
