I've only been driving since the start of this year, but ever since my first month of going OTR for at least a month at a time, every time, my car feels like a go cart when I get back home!!
Now granted my car is small and it's not a van or a pickup or SUV or anything. But still. i just cannot get over how tiny it feels.
My question to you long time drivers, does a 4 wheel vehicle ever start to few "normal size" again after you've been driving a semi truck? Or does that feeling of it being small never really go away?
Does your 4 wheel vehicle ever go back to feeling like "normal size" again?

Or, I'll see a tight parking space in a tight parking lot, go for it by swinging wide to hook that trailer...........Before of course, I realize, there's no trailer to hook!D.Tibbitt, homeskillet, OldeSkool and 4 others Thank this. -
Bigger problem is not being used to being in a vehicle that can get up 120mph if you're not careful. Last time I was home, I was actually honest to God surprised to look down at my speedo and see a number higher than 67mph. Luckily, I caught myself at 80, but still... actually spooked me a bit. As for how I know my '03 Exploder can pull that number... it's the same spec as the local cops used for their fleet that year. By pure coincidence, only a couple VINs removed from the actual manufacturing run that fulfilled my local PD's order, too. You can learn weird things about your vehicle if you bother to do the research

D.Tibbitt, homeskillet and Iowa80 Thank this. -
Almost three years retired, I had to go out and buy another large vehicle to feel normal.
My day car is either a large pickup or a Prius but then those feel small ....D.Tibbitt and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
Ive got a '72 F-250 Highboy, an '89 F-250 7.3, a '97 Toyota T100 with 6 inches of lift, and a '13 Ford Edge.... They all feel like tinker toys with the exception of the '72, but even it feels small... A small tank that is. Lol
D.Tibbitt and homeskillet Thank this. -
That 4wheeler you were watching struggling to back up, that was probably me. I always turn the wheel the wrong way, towards the problem. Like im backing up a trailer.homeskillet, MACK E-6 and Truckermania Thank this. -
My biggest problem is I keep trying to step on a non existent clutch pedal.

It's also a strange feeling going to slow down and realizing you no longer have a jake brake in a 4 wheeler.
homeskillet, Truckermania, Fold_Moiler and 5 others Thank this.
