You will absolutely hate working for Schneider. Trust me... me and several of my colleagues left that company fast. If you like rotting at operating centers and truck stops for a week at a time collecting $65 a day layover pay... Then go right on ahead. They are a terrible company

    I'm in Houston, TX

Been looking at Highway Transport and Superior Carriers in addition to A&R Logistics for regional tanker work out of the Houston area. Schneider seems to be the only one that takes rookie drivers straight out of CDL school into their tanker division. The other three, which appear to be 2nd tier companies, all require a year of experience apparently.

I'm not mad about it, everyone has to pay dues. I just don't want to have to do OTR for 3+ weeks on end while only earning $40k that first year. I'm hoping there's a compromise somewhere?

Your in a perfect location for regional work with Highway Transport. Those guys run during the week and off on weekends. They may see the house during the week too. I work for them and so far so good. They do require 12 months otr. Doesn't have to be tanker. They will train.

Go and do personal interviews. With where you want to be someday Get a book on how to job search/interview. Follow up with notes thanking them. Paper, not something electronic.

Trucking is casual enough (and turnover high enough) that you’ll stand out.

You can basically just walk in. Find out if terminal manage or assistant available first. Learn what they want (your good character is what it boils down to).

Haz-Mat, TWIC and concealed carry all follow same background check. Get them. That helps open door quicker on the phone. No moving violations is the other.

    MYSTYKRACER Thanks this.

A&R hires student drivers and has a Hiuston terminal.

    Baytown. Near the truck stops.

Most plastic loads come off the Gulf Coast.
