Can't really compare company drivers from Swift to lease operators from JCT. We get by contract $1.00 a mile plus a $0.01 per mile market premium plus going rate of fuel surcharge. After that it is up to the lease op to capture back the maximum they can out of that compensation thru fuel economy and proper maintenance on the truck since we are the ones paying the truck payment and all the expenses to operate it. Another part of the money coming off the top of that $1.29 (this week's numbers only in case you are reading this years from now...) is the $0.2x per mile variable (loaded and empty dispatched miles) truck payment and $120 fixed deduction per week for truck payment as well.

So with a really heavy load uphill into a headwind the lease op at JCT might only be able to capture back $0.35 per mile on that load or that week, but the truck payment if paid off would be on top of that (worse case scenario). There is huge value in running your own truck with a business sense and goal to pay it off and own it one day. When that day comes the now owner operator will leap frog very far ahead of his company driver peers in the money department.

I have a hard time believing the average Swift salary is a low as the list states. I also have a hard time believing some of the LTL companies are as low as they are listed. See AAA Cooper, Yellow Freight, and SEFL. All 3 are listed below TMC and Decker. SEFL is listed below Werner, Heartland, and Western Express.

My current employer is not listed at all, so I cannot attest to the accuracy of those numbers from a personal standpoint.

No offense, but if you are only earning an "average" $33,500 at JCT, you should probably turn in the keys.

I think those numbers are BS.

The thing is that number may be close to correct for "reported" irs income. After you take out your deduction for per diem.
It still is kind of low...But people always under report their income when they're unhappy and over report their income when they're not...

Well, I just heard from another driver that it was road rage related. I don't know how true or accurate that it is, but just what I was told. Must of pretty serious for sure though.
