I'd like to know how he took out the fire hydrant but the two posts look untouched. Here's where it happened btw.

Go big or go home, the driver is going to be dinged with a preventable accident, why go small?

The hydrant is fortunately a dry bottle. It is a defensive measure against brutal winter cold. The pipe feed valve is below street level. And so no leaking here.

If it was a wet hydrant the flow likely would have drowned the truck and his electronics (Engine etc) and then flooded the street and went downslope causing a problem for everyone. Most certainly a fire truck call out.

    The car was parked illegally.

As far as the location, I find that hard to believe. But he got it in there... trailer and all.

I consider this a amusing entertainment followed by a one way yelling as the firing comes down from high in the company office when they get a load of this...

The fact that he got in there actually makes him a better driver than I thought

Well, of course I don't know if he was telling a story or not. He's a truck driver, so odds are high I guess.

I have a healthy sense of adventure, but at some point there's a line that you cross from "adventure" to "unnecessary risk." NYC is on the other side of that line for me. It doesn't pay enough for the extra hazards, and I don't have anything to prove to myself or anyone else, so nope, not going there again. Once in Manhattan was enough. They're so incompetent that they can't even put the correct bridge height on their signs.

Looks like he must have got himself on roosevelt and didn't see any other option than to turn down that road when confronted with a 12'6" clearance.

but that place can be like a "roach motel", you get to go in, but you can't get back out

But it's NYC, so who knows, the clearance might actually be 14'0".

Been there done it. NY is the state with bad signage.
Got grey hair from driving on Jamaica Blvd. At least it was 4 am and dented the top corner of the trailer on a bridge.
