My apologies, but are you a KB recruiter who is here to offer rebuttal to the thread content?

Best thing to do is just not work for K&B let them starve . Go join a flatbed outfit, or something else and actually sleep during your break . IV done the most effective thing you can do to hurt K&B other than tangle them in a massive lawsuit, I won't drive for them.

K&B has been a problem for a while..

Is Adam F still in recruiting?

Back when they still had The Classic XL Hood trucks they were ok...

The whole industry is dog eat dog anymore..

Obviously after 5 years the company hasn’t learned its lesson and it’s to be avoided. Especially since the OP put up a HIGHLY DETAILED post with more info than we normally get even with detailed posts!! It’s rare that I see K&B trucks sitting at truck stops, and now we know why(they gotta pay for all those new Cascadias somehow).

Back in the day, on paper logs I only logged what I had to, in order to preserve my hours of service. So if I spent the night at a shipper or consignee I logged it in the sleeper berth, then showed 15 minutes for “bills” and VI. I was never ever on duty the whole time unless I was on the dock helping “sort and segregate” or unloading. Since we’ve gone to elogs I do it the same way. To me it only makes sense to not start that clock unless you absolutely have to. This is perfectly legal, and to do it any other way is just wasting your time. Trucking, especially pulling reefers is not a 9-5 job. Contrary to what some people think, the drivers record of duty status has nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with controlling and limiting commerce. Am I a chronic log violater? No. I drive what I legally can drive and take the breaks that are required by law, and then some. But I don’t waste my time either. If someone brings me a relay while my elog indicates I am on break, I complete the relay and continue my break. I still get plenty of sleep. If I am driving and get drowsy, I stop and take a nap. I’ve never been late doing this, and never have died in an accident, and have never had an accident. “Better late than dead” and “there’s no hot freight that won’t cool off in a ditch”. But, you have to use some common sense with the log book.

I reread the OP’s post again this morning and truthfully, it sounds like reefer trucking to me. I think he needs to learn to manage his time and log book better. Or, if he still insists on being a trucker, there are jobs out there that manage your time and plan your loads the way you are indicating you would like, you just may not necessarily make as much, or possibly may not be OTR, and definitely not reefer work.

I woke up having 7 hours of sleep (after I resigned my miles plummeted, I had only a couple hours of work the day before), started the work day at 03:00. I didn't know at 08:00 the company would keep me waiting for hours and later consider it to be my 10 hour break. Had I managed to sleep from 08:00 til 14:30, I would have had 13.5 hours of sleep in 18.5 hours.

It happened more than twice. Dispatchers do work nights at K & B. If a driver shuts off phone or does not answer, dispatcher will look for another K & B driver at the same location (for example Pilot/TA stations) to go search for the driver who is not answering the phone even if it is during the break.

    Bud A. Thanks this.
