    I wish you luck.

The trucking industry is designed to get the ill prepared and uneducated to donate free labor and capital until they go bankrupt. That is the sad truth if it so become educated in bankruptcy law and when that happens you’ll figure a way to either use OPM to go bankrupt or run a tight ship with your own capital.

It’s a sad, disgusting, state of affairs

Did you intend to post that again? Kinda odd the double post would show up 29 minutes apart.

No. I had no service 29 minutes previous. Everything happened at once I don’t think it’s a board problem but thanks for the inquiry. Note to self: check internet connection before you repost

Ive had that happen before too. And i agree about an industry designed to lure in fresh meat to subsidize freight.

To the OP.. Your timing is good... To save save save and buy a good cash truck then go through it YOURSELF in your own driveway. These low rates are driving operators out of business daily and their equipment is up for auction. It will only deepen when we hit a recession. It will be a buyer market for equipment.

Those who start JUST AFTER the next crash will rake it in because there wont be many competitors. Dont be in a rush to start today... Be in a rush to be PREPARED for the exact perfect time to start. You need cash, big truck tools and a place to keep your truck and do basic maintenance. That is the basis for a succesful start in my opinion. Put those together with correct timing and youll be a success story. Until then sit on your hands. Im glad to see we got through to you and wish you success. Patience is the hard part.

    Yes,All good advice...

You know what I notice tho? For years..........

Why do just about all Lessee's who lease on to Mercer or Landstar Afraid to work on their own trucks?

Its a good question...Ive talked to hundreds, They wouldn't even let me air up or break down a Flat Tire Just to get them Going...Rather sit and wait on service.

They carry basic tools only to maybe change a headlight-a hose or simple things only-

I stopped to help a guy with a hood up in the gorge. The tail of a hoseclamp was clocked so as to rub through the top hose off his thermostat housing. He didnt have the ability to diagnose the issue or do anything about it after i showed him. He was an o/o.

I'm leased onto Mercer, I'm not going to do a overhaul myself but have changed just about everything that is a parts change myself...

Starter, alternator, shocks, airbags, filters, brake valve, torque rods, etc etc etc...

I carry the impact gun that's in my Avatar with me...

Your statement might be true for some but certainly not all. I've seen plenty of owner ops at the Mercer yard have their truck ripped apart doing a repair themselves.

    Thats Great news........

Wished they all would do it....

Last one was a Landstar up in Montgomery,NY, He was at the T&A, Overheard him talking to shop to put air in a tire- They wre booked for 12 hours or better-

I said " Hey,Lets go look at what you got going on" He tells me he believes it just needed to be seated and aired.. I said "Hey No Problem" We could get er done without even taking the wheel off.

He Decl;ined any help from me..Was thankful,But he wanted Landstar to direct him on what to do.
