You might as well pick up a near new 3 axle tractor and big horse engine in it. And get going with the big boys.

If you’re planning to get your own authority, 10k might be enough just for getting set up and legal. Not even considering how much you’d need for truck and trailer down payment.

Insurance for new entrants is insane..

Do you have customers lined up?

I already had customers lined up before I bought my truck, so I was able to get the truck insurance and everything and hit the ground running right from the get go.

Then you would have no worries, except for that pesky monthly payment.

How has the hot shot side of trucking been doing this year? Is it as over saturated as the big truck side? I've been seeing lots of empty hot shots sitting in truck stops so I'm guessing ya.

I stay local nowadays. At the house until I get a call. Best year I have had in a while. Now I am not going from point A to B and looking for another load. Most of my work is for the Electrical Grid this summer I turned down work from my other customers.
