Getting same mileage with aero as a hood.

    That's pretty sad.

    Lol.
    Yeah...... The market isn't favorable
    favorable to fleet expansion... And?

You aren't seeing all those orders transition into a mass purchase of used trucks by any fleets though are you.... lol.

Nobody in their right mind with a fleet buys trucks that are more costly to own intentionally.

The only "old" tech free trucks worth having used are pre 03'... or new glider kits.. which the EPA is doing away with.

Even a large amount of the gliders are garbage like anything that Fitzgerald put together with their in house POS Detroit. Pure junk.

Actually there are and have been for several years fleets going back to older trucks, and putting their own gliders together, two of them here locally.
These are not big fleets, but run quite a few trucks.

Let's not forget the 100k+ in fuel difference in those 5 years compared to the average Hood truck running hard... That's lucky to see 5.5-6 mpg running 70 mph on flat ground with no wind.

Yes , my 389L X15-565/2050 drank fuel to the tune of closer to 30k more per year running 3500mi a week compared to the Volvo 780 XE.

I'd rather take that 100k+ and do things like buy a beach house, take trips with the family or maybe payoff other debts instead of torching the $100 bills through the stacks so I feel "cool" about my image. LoL.

Key word is gliders, they're still new trucks using older pre emissions engines.
JB hunt was big on building gliders for quite a while. It was a good business move for new trucks.

Nobody is buying up used 500k+ mile trucks for fleets to use. Those are being bought by small companies and OOs that don't have the credit or Capitol to buy new trucks and those who think they can beat the statistics.

That resale difference is puny compared to 5 years of substantial fuel economy difference.

Really, you should take that model to a big fleet you could make tens of millions for the company with all that resale value!! hahahaha

    Thumbs up !!

Schneider had a whole fleet off gliders.
Iirc they had less then 600 000 on the clock when they sold them.

What engine/trans/gearing was in the Volvo?

I see about 1 mpg difference between my XHD and my T800. But the mechanical B model Cat has 40% more displacement than the M11 not to mention the single OD 15 speed vs a double OD 13 so how much of that 1 mpg is due to aero at 60 mph I can’t say.

I’d hazard a guess if I put a 15 speed and a B model in the T8 instead of the 13/M11 I’d lose close to a MPG. It’s awfully hard to keep your foot out of it and pull a hill at 30 mph when you have the nuts to pull it at 50 and that’s not free
