Sargent Trucking out of Houlton, ME? They are, or were, a Roadrunner affiliate. Buddy of mine leased his truck on to them about 6 years ago, seemed to do well.

Take it from someone that left roadrunner last year after 2-1/2 years there! DON'T DO IT!!! they will nickel and dime you to death on your settlements. As well as they have following isusues.

    - Very poor maintained equipment!

    - Old and beat up trailers (some running almost skin bald tires)

    - Bad safety record. (Check the FMCSA website)

    - You will get pull in to a scale house quite often or get the red light on the prepass transponder. If was going from Iowa or Nebraska to California, i had to go through every scale house or port of entry, if it was open!!! (Because of Roadrunners bad safety record)

    - Getting detention time paid? Forget! Like pulling teeth!

There is a long list of issues I and many other O/O had with them last year and the previous years. They lost a lot of hard running O/O and some company drivers from the other companies ( R&M, Sortino, Buenger, and some from AA in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Due to pay, poor maintained equipment, mis-managemnet of the merger, and Roadrunners reputation!

Regarding the Reefer side, a few years ago roadrunner bought out 4-5 reefer companies and the corporate executives completely mis-managed the merge of all the companies! One of the biggest problems was they brought over some of the bad managers from the other companies that they ran into the ground and in turn they helped run "Roadrunner Temperature Control" (Check the YouTube videos) in the ground! Regarding AA the are still pulling old R&M, Buenger, and some of their old trailers as well some the trailers are almost 10 years old! I have yet to see any brand new trailers! I could on and on! Again DON'T DO IT!

Note: Again I left them last year and moved on to another 100% O/O company and making way more money and better equipment, better paying loads, better safety record, and do not get nickel and dime in my settlements! Also my settlements are correct everytime I get paid!!

I leased onto them in 2014, about 3 years too late. In 2014 we could still book our own loads albeit with reduced percentages each time you didn't haul a terminal load; to reset to a higher broker load percentage, just pull a terminal load. Beginning in 2015 they took away our own ability to log onto internet truckstop to book our own loads and we had to go through the in-house RR brokers who hid the true money of the loads. They would say some bull like the load is $1.23 all in and we get 92% of that.

I like the terminal to terminal runs however they didn't have enough to go around to keep all the drivers busy enough. Around that time they were purchasing their own trailers (I had my own) and were wanting me to pay a weekly fee to haul theirs. They kept poking holes in my roof and NEVER once paid for repairs. Terminal managers would deny their guys did it. Got loaded out of Livermore, the forklift guy put a hazmat placard over the hole he just poked I told the terminal manager, he said the hole was already there.I asked, why did you load it then? Isn't the policy not to load trailers with holes since the customer's product might get wet? I just took the hit each time, it cost about $50 bucks to patch holes, at least I could keep running and write it off.

In the end I had to leave but they still call and offer me $10k sign on bonus. I miss it mostly due to the paper logs and the absolute freedom of running for them. I had my dog in those days too. Trucking can never be the same for me as in those wonderful days.
