Failure to yield to an emergency vehicle

In all actuality, those other cars that didn’t immediately yield should slap themselves and save the Trooper the trouble.

 

Blanket statements are dangerous, it varies by state. In Ohio you’re just supposed to yield the right of way, if you’re in a 4 lane highway and you’re in the right lane you are obligated to do nothing. I get pissed when you’re on a 4 lane surface street and there’s a cop going the opposite direction and the idiots on my side stop. It’s not required and causes problems for no reason.

 

Well the guy in the left lane couldnt get over because the guy in the right lane. I guess he couldve slowed down and got over but wtf that just seems like cop got nothing better to do .

 

After being through stated where everyone has to pull over when not divided, I just hit the shoulder when I see flashing lights. I might make you upset but, along with knowing which states use what color lights etc, it's difficult remembering every state's rules. I feel better safe than sorry later....
For the record, i feel the same way about blanket statements.

 

That’s fine, as a truck driver running many states it might be hard to keep track of. However the vast majority of people spend their time in their home state where they should know the rules.

 

It looked like the truck in the right should have slowed a little where the truck could get over. Matched speed trucks would make it hard to get over. I thought I saw one spot where he could have if he had been paying attention.

 

In Washington state all traffic is supposed to pull over and yield on surface streets, even opposing traffic.

 

There’s perfectly good reason the trooper could have shifted his attention from the assist call to the driver not yielding. Someone else may have gotten there sooner, or the situation may have been under control already.

 

That is what I was thinking too. He should have also gotten the tag number of the one pickup truck that didn't move over before the flatbed truck.
