The vast majority of people live in the states where they pass school buses that have red lights flashing, too. This is why, on 2 lane roads, I'll angle the truck across both lanes when I'm behind one that is stopped.

I can’t say that I see many people passing school buses around here. I can’t honestly say I can remember the last time I saw it. “The vast majority” is definitely not accurate.

That truck wanted to get in front of other truck at any cost. In a hurry and the other truck is governed at 1mph less than him. And he thought the cop would help him pass him. But the other truck was stubborn as well

    That’s what happened

Reread my comment. Not the vast majority pass stopped buses, but live in states where it is illegal. Yet, the passing still happens. I've seen it often enough that I block both lanes now when I'm behind one.

And for good reason too. I have no idea if the emergency responder is going to turn into a side street, approach or driveway on my side of the road.

I don't care if the guy is a cop, the laws of physics still apply to him and there's no excuse for driving in the dangerous way he was driving.

Just to be clear, are you saying the cop was driving dangerously?

Yes. Tailgating that closely is an unsafe driving practice, nor is it necessary to get the attention of the vehicles in front of him. Furthermore, if they failed to notice him as he came up behind them, getting that close, especially to the flatbed, makes him less noticeable, not more.
