1. ensuring your home US mailbox doesn't get overcrowded with mail?
Contact your post office and ask them to hold your mail. They will merely put it in a box in the sorting room. Just dont forget about them for 6 months or they will consider address abandoned.
2. vote during public elections?
There is a way for you to do it by mail. Its called Absentee ballots
3. get to see doctors and dentists on a regular basis for preventive healthcare?
Say what? Ask the doctor if you can do walkins based on the part you dont know when you will get hom
4. deal with jury duty summons?
Jury duty is by license #. You can contact the local judiciary clerk of your area and let them know that you are OTR and wont be available. They will understand. Dont let them bully you into it "well everyone must serve". It isnt ttrue, there are alot of drivers they can ask. -
1. USPS has that new online service where they will send you pictures of your mail. Have a 'trusted' neighbor actually receive it, and ask him/her to 'open' anything of importance you've seen on the mail scan app.
2. ^^ again, absentee ballots, in the mail.
3. Schedule your appointment(s) a month or so out, and let dispatch KNOW you need routed home (with plenty of time, and then a reminder as the time approaches).
4. Again, refer to #1. When you see / receive that summons in the mail, call and let them know you are an OTR driver, and 99% of the time, you will be excused. If however, you DO desire to serve on said Jury, work that out with dispatch as well, keeping in mind you may be off the road for awhile due to the selection process, et al.tscottme and lovesthedrive Thank this. -

1) have your mail sent to a relative, who 's house you stop at, on the way home?
2) absentee votes
3) make sure dispatch knows of your need to be home, and now a days, some trucks tops have (or had) medical facilities on site, or nearby
4) you respond by answering your job takes you away from home for long periods of time -
1. My sister is there to empty it. I get very little mail anyway.
2. I don't.
3. I see a doctor once a year to renew the bp med, and the DOT doc once a year for the physical. Not too hard to get home for those.
4. I don't recall ever getting one. -
2. in Oklahoma, I have to have a notary sign and stamp my absentee ballot to make it valid
3. the doctor and dentist I could just play by ear; being a Vet there are VA clinics and hospitals all over America and company drivers get the dental/medical group package, I expect health bennies as a driver and 401K
4. I can just say I have religious objections to passing judgment to dodge jury duty, some people say they think the person on trial is guilty anyway...I don't want to lose driver pay to serve and get $10 a DAY FROM THE COURT TO MISS WORK
