I'd like to build a structure where I can work on my semi in open shade and out of the elements. I was originally thinking of a thick gravel pad and 24' long RV style 3 sided carport. They cost roughly 3k in my area. I would like to build a full on shop or pole barn at a later point in the future. Estimated cost of construction of a 30x40 steel building is 30k in my area. 10x the cost of the carport. No HOA or restrictions to worry about. As a new O/O I need a solution before winter rolls around. Right now all repairs are done in the driveway with zero shade.
Curious to know what some of you guys are doing for storage or how you work on your truck at your home.
Thanks.
Pole Barns/Carport or Garage for wrenching at home.

Okay. Full disclosure I am not an O/O but... I too want to build something similar at my place. I saw a pretty nice set up in Texas somewhere with two containers and a raised nicely done metal roof in between them. Got me thinking.

I'm not an O/O either, but I've got a Pole Barn for when I DO bring my company truck home (which is often; at my discretion) and it's nice and warm in the winter to work on our PV's and/or the ATV/bikes, et al.
I'd go all, or go home, just IMHO. Will look for pix.Cat sdp and Just passing by Thank this. -

Last winter. 8" Concrete pad.. not sure of the dim's, overall, tbh. Built it mostly myself with help from the Amish, of course, but for the concrete. I did the electric. About 35k. 10 years ago.
