they put allot of parts into it. full DPF system replacement, fuel tank, DEF tank, passenger side steps, front steer tire, new wheels on impact side.... all told around $30K in parts. its a 2017 T880 with an 18 speed manual transmission.
now how to i polish the fuel tanks and steps on the drivers side to match the passenger side?

i believe most expensive parts were the emissions replacement. it was more or less a total system replacement. thank god the truck wasnt a couple years older because it wouldnt have been repaired...... replacing that stuff can total out a 5 year old truck.

i drove it bob tail briefly today. it seemed fine but a little quieter. they replaced the stack with a smaller stack and im not sure if that has anything to do with it. it seemed to ride well, my concern is the DPF system. it spent 3 days at kenworth AFTER the guys in our shop replaced the parts, apparently they couldn't get it right in-house. the emissions controls can be a massive headache on a truck that HAS NOT been through an accident.

a bonehead in a 4 wheeler ran a stop sign and crashed into the passenger side. he hit the steer tire, spun around hit the steps, DEF tank, fuel tank. he made a mess. he had the brain of a deer that morning.

Had a similar misfortune in my "17 Cascadia. Around $30k and 7 weeks to repair. She looked as good as new when we got her back but it's not the same truck at all.
Little things that you notice after a few thousand miles that grow into bigger annoyances is what we experienced. Mechanically, everything was put back right, but it just never seemed as good or solid as it was before.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
got it back today. truck runs fantastic. it seems to pull a little better then before. they also fixed the upper stack hanger that used to have slop in it, the stack used to make an annoying rattle sound over bumps. overall i am very happy with the way they repaired it.
as far as not being exactly the same i will put up with whatever quirks it might have. there is a brand new daycab that i could probably have. i am not interested. every truck he has been buying has been an autoshift. i have probably one of the newer last manual shift trucks in the fleet. it has 85K miles on it, it should last a long time yet. i am going to keep her with her fantasic 18 speed manual.FlaSwampRat and G13Tomcat Thank this.
