That my friend is a sign of experience and wisdom....might save a life...might even be yours.. knowing your limit and making the decision NOT to push it is smart.

Seeing Daffy Duck dancing in the road in front of you means half of your brain is already asleep and you are dreaming and driving at the same time... And you are probably all over your lane and maybe part of the left lane at times and not realizing it.
Sleep driving is a real thing. Some folks interviewed in sleep driving cases recall driving and also dreaming. Like They have separate memories of both, except those were happening at the same time, and they didnt even realize it until the next day.FlaSwampRat, NavigatorWife, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
Hallucinations. Beware the Black Dog.
Lot of guys talk about the sun coming up killing them but for me that sunrise has always seemed to give me a second wind.D.Tibbitt, FlaSwampRat, 2old and 2 others Thank this. -
I normally start at midnight. My low point is usually at dawn that’s when I decide to park and catch an hour nap.

Good to see I'm not alone in this.
One thing that I didn't mention or see mentioned, I'm not quite sure it's the hours themselves that make me tired.
I think a big part of it is just staring into the blackness, into the nothingness, for hours on end.
I'm not being sarcastic when I say this, Chicago is a real pleasure to drive in at 2am in the morning. There's adequate lanes but most importantly, IT'S LIT UP BRIGHT!!!
If the interstates were lit up, I don't think it would be as big of a deal. But of course I realize that's not practical in rural parts of the country like South Dakota. And a country as big as the US, it's not practical I know that.
I think the hours have something to do with it but I think the staring into darkness does as well. Because I'll feel the dreariness start kicking in at 5pm/6pm during winter time when it starts getting dark out early. Whereas during summer that dreariness doesn't kick in during the dinner time hours.D.Tibbitt, FlaSwampRat, 2old and 2 others Thank this. -
I got a full 8 hours last night and I struggled to stay awake most of today. Skipped lunch and took a 30 minute power nap, which helped for a couple hours. Now I'm parked for the night and I'm wide awake.
D.Tibbitt, FlaSwampRat, 2old and 4 others Thank this. -
Knew it wasnt real because it was a dog walking on two legs with a white triangle eye. It looked weird, and a tad freaky at the time. Just my imagination though I am sure.D.Tibbitt, FlaSwampRat, 2old and 1 other person Thank this. -
Gazing at the road is a no no. But when you got no moon. Nothing to look at but the road. Makes it difficult.
When that white striped line starts looking like star wars. That's when I park it.
Don't know if it's because I'm older? Or I have had so much self discipline. Falling asleep comes more in the form of losing cognitive abilities. I see a sign of starting to lose. I park it.D.Tibbitt, 2old, SteveScott and 2 others Thank this.
