Hello, fellow truckers. I got my Illinois CDL last month. However, I had an back out accident (not truck, my personal Vehicle) in a parking lot in state of Delaware in the beginning of September, while I was traveling. I was backing out from a parking spot then my vehicle was hit by another vehicle. I was at least 2/3 of the car backed out and no car was parked on both sides of my vehicle. My car was hit from the side, where the rear bumper and back passenger side tire are. The driver who hit me was panic and since she couldn’t speak English, i called the police. No one was injured. I also believe that I have no way to avoid the accident from happening, as I was slowly backed out and after I was backed I have at least 2/3 of the car moved outside the parking lane. However, the police came and said she has the right of way. I understand that, but since my car was backed out 2/3 even 3/4. I did not think I can avoid the accident from happening.
The cop did not give me citation nor ticket because she said the parking lot was a private property. She even said she would give me a citation if is on a road.
Both of us was reported to the insurance and now is under investigation. The initial investigation said should be shared responsibility.
I am trying to get a job after the trip and I do not know if I should mention it when I apply. If yes, would it influence my chances from getting a good truck job?
Would this collision report on my mvr? What should I do? Please help.

Because usually they will ask a question like “did you have a traffic accident in last 5 years?”
If they are going to find out, I better tell them first.
The question is, if I tell them, would it be stopping me from getting a good truck job? As I am a no experience CDL, fresh out from driving school.
Also, I got tanker and hazmat. Would it stop me from doing that?

This is essentially a preventable personal accident. Your losses. Your cost.

It has nothing to do with a big truck thankfully and even more so on private property.

I know a dear friend who held a Class A in his time and not long after had a issue in traffic and endured a high speed wreck. He was sued for it. Fortunately for him within the law he died a year and two months after (Not within a year and day... that would have upgraded his traffic tickets to vehicular manslaughter at a very minimum.) both parties suffered losses in that wreck and the job situation was stable anyway, in short the accident did not matter back then.

As long its not public roads or in a big rig. it should not matter.

What you should do like we do is park on the far corner of the lot backing in. No one parks near you that far from the doors.

    @Ridgeline what do you think?
Happened in his personal vehicle; not a CMV.
Police said it was on private property, so no tickets or citations.
    MVR should be clean.

Plenty of trucking companies will hire you; don't worry about that.
We can give you names of several trucking companies that will hire you.
"Questions from new Drivers" thread is the best thread to ask about a job for new cdl school grad in Illinois.
Which city/town are you near in Illinois?

Thanks for everyone. Frankly, I did not expect that there will be lots of reply within a night. Thanks for everyone’s input.

So, I should let them know that I had this accidents when I apply for a job right?
Thanks for your input. I am in Schaumburg. And I plan to be an OTR driver. However, I plan to move to Delaware or Philadelphia recently. If that is a regional job. I am looking for job over there. Can my Illinois license get a job in other states? Since my driving school told me that try not to switch states from Illinois to other states. It’s easy to switch to other states. But if I need to switch it back to Illinois. I need to take the whole written test and road test again.

If you move to another address, you are required to change your drivers license or CDL license to the new address. If you move to Delaware or Philadelphia, switch your license to that new state.
If you have hazmat endorsement you'll have to do that over, but every other part of your license you don't have to do over.

Since you're in Schaumburg and plan a move to Delaware or Philadelphia, choose a company that hires in those areas so you won't have to change companies when you move.
You also want OTR, so factor that in.
It's best to submit an online application before calling. This way, when you call all you have to do is say, "I'm checking on my job application." They'll already have all your information and that saves a long back & forth question & answer session on the phone.
Here's some, so apply even if you don't think they'll hire you. Some drivers miss out on job opportunities simply because they don't apply.
