    Hi guys,

Please give me any input you have
I need to replace my Series 60 turbocharger for a 2003 12.7L engine
My research tells me that I need a 171701 Borgwarner turbo, but before I purchase a genuine Borg or Borg OE Reman replacement which would be top of the line, are there any other dealers/websites/turbo suppliers that would be a best 2nd option?

I know the automotive market well, but not sure about options for heavy duty. Some high profile dealers/distributors I found who sell "white box" non OE were:
    - Invasion Auto products
    - TRP
    - Mahle
    - Diesel Forward
    - Alliant Power
    - Alliance
    - Road Choice
    - BBB
    - Turbo Solutions

They have Garrett and Borg OE turbos, but also offer their own private label brands (Which I know nothing about)

Are any of these options similar in quality?

Also, turbo designs change outside of the OE so should I be worried if I buy a new replacement turbo out of the box and it doesnt look exactly like my OE (let's say wastegate is relocated, but everything else matches)?

    Thank you for your time!

    CellNet and jamespmack Thank this.

Where did you buy it from? Was it just a cheap chinese knockoff?
Do you remember what failed on it/ what sucked about it?

It was from JM or something like that. Their reviews where mixed so i took a chance. It just didn't provide the boost that it should and then it started leaking about 6 weeks after i put it on.

Ah gotcha, I looked over them briefly and it seems like they probably just reclass turbos from a low cost country. Ive tried to list more reputable dealers in hopes their aftermarket turbos have some kinda R/D invested

171702 BW I think is what you need. Use the search on top and see what comes up. This question has been brought up many times. I’m sure you will get more than enough 411 using it.

    Thanks Dave,

I've been trying to search as much as I can and I dont see a lot of info about the other suppliers I listed

Do we really not have any options other than OE? (Garrett/ Borg/ Holset/ IHI)

If your gonna run 500 hp and up you want the 702.

Under 500 you want the 701

Borg Warner is the best aftermarket you can buy. Now if you want to customize your own then you can experiment. @SmokinCAT has done so using Garrett but it’s for his sledge pulling. But the standard for reliability and some performance over OEM, Borg Warner is the way mostly everyone goes.
