Texas wouldn't be so bad if they would finish out the freeway construction between Big Cabin, and Dallas. Every time I get a load between Chicago and Dallas (or Waco) I have to wrack my brains over what route to take.
Do I come in the shortest route and deal with 50 miles of stop and go secondary roads?
Do I take the shortest interstate route, but pay 40+ dollars in tolls?
Do I take the no-toll interstate-only route that is 100 miles longer than the shortest route, but only 60 miles longer than the 40+ dollar toll route?
I have stopped taking the shortest route, as I have verified it frequently takes more drive time due to that stretch of secondary roads.
I usually make my decision based on the time of day. The shorter interstate route, directly north to/from I-35 through Dallas is NOT a good idea anywhere near either rush hour, and i will take I-20 East to I-635 then jump on I-30.
If I will hit I-35 NSEWHJAVQ (or whatever that mess around Dallas and Fort Worth is called by the idiots that chose not to use standard interstate nomenclature) when I expect traffic to be light, I will take the I-35 North route.
If they would ever finish that freeway between Big Cabin and Dallas, the nation would probably save tens of millions of gallons of fuel a year, or more.

Good. I run out of Dallas and the yard sucks. After dark you're lucky if you can find a spot. The parking lot for personal vehicles is just as bad. Maybe worse.
I wonder how good the exercise equipment will beFarmerbob1 Thanks this. -
