After what my wife had to deal with getting us through the early years of UPS financially? I would be missing a limb if I even whispered a joke like that.

When my wife and I got together 15 years ago she worked in Union Labor at a local Ford plant that wasn’t certain to remain open. Since I was full scale at Buster Brown and could handle being a sole provider I talked her in to taking the Ford buyout and going to nursing school. Fast forward 15 years to today. She is 2 years in to medical sales related to her last nursing job in the MS and stroke Clinic. She is on track to make over $100,000 more than me this year and I will clear about $100,000 more this year than my best year at Big Brown. Some times stuff pays off for those with patience. I still could live on $40,000 a year, but thankfully don’t need to. Money doesn’t make me happy, but it does allows me to do exactly what I choose to do.

I don't think he's at Brown anymore. I'm pretty sure he's a car hauler owner operator.

Were are not in a pissing contest driver. I was merely seconding LTL Anonymous and Bob Dobalina on how ones other half can make our life much easier and how nice that is. I get a settlement every 2 weeks and it is after fuel, insurance, hotels and maintenance escrow. Don’t owe a dime to anyone including on my rig or home. Not really a major accomplishment since I am not doing anything special that others probably are doing better. It is something that someone who has worked steadily the last 34 years and invested wisely for a rainy day ought to be able to do. Surely you don’t think I would leave Buster Brown voluntarily to take a pay cut? I don’t plan on making this much for much longer as I am in the winding down mode of my career. 3 day weeks are a regular part of my future. In fact this week was one such week. Something Buster Brown would have frowned upon. The best part about my work now it is all day work and roughly 50-55 hours a week. I still wouldn’t recommend anyone leave a great gig like Buster Brown, but it worked for me. However I march to a slightly different beat thanks to my savings and my wife’s income.

On a side note I will not be “Posting her Checks” Yo!

Also worked for me. Started there at 17 and saved my pennies got lucky with a few investments (bought a house in 08 for nothing when the market was in the crapper, etc).

That's about where I figured you would be. Very nice.

I've seen my friend's checks. He hauls fuel locally, and makes relatively similar money.

Maybe one day I will consider that sort of thing. I have talked to enough owner-operators to know a lot of the pitfalls. The main thing being to avoid debt. And pay that #### truck off as soon as you can, if you have to take a loan.

It’s not rocket science how much linehaul pays in LTL. Cpm and hourly pay is out there. I run 2750x.685cpm 5 hours of work @29.77 hour for drop and hooks = ??? Weekly.
