Do people hate how you drive a 4 wheeler even more as a truck driver?

If I'm in a car, I'm driving or not going. I'm not going to volunteer to be a crash test dummy while the driver plays some game on a phone.

 

My wife is not a patient person, and yes, she has urged me to drive faster.

 

Mostly they complain about me driving slow. Wide turns, yes, but my speed gets the most complaints.

What's worse is being the passenger with other people. It's harder now. Especially when they are driving around 18-wheelers.

"You're following too close. His tire debris can go through your windshield"
"Pass that truck, don't loiter along side of him"
"Don't lane change so close in front of him. You're going to get us killed"
"Don't pass on the right, you are blocking him in."

 

People do most things in life as well as they drive. They might do their job better than they drive, unless they work in shipping/receiving.

 

Not so much hate, but my wife picks on me for slowing down way too early at a light or stop sign.

 

I have never had any complaints that I know of, but I don't drive my pickup like it is a truck either. lol
I do slow down eeasier than a lot of drivers, but do not takee wide turns, unless I am pulling a trailer, and I have been known to accelerate with the best of the craxy drivers at times too. lol

 

For me it's just not wanting to get a ticket. I have to be on my best behavior now 24/7 on the road. I know that I should have always been. But once it becomes your livelihood and it's how you feed yourself, you think about it differently. And when I say driving slow, that means right at about the speed limit. That's slow to most people. LoL

 

And the winning answer is.....wife hahaha. Most ppl think they are good drivers, just ask them. That said I wrangled me a cowgirl, she hauls horses. Nuff said.

 

Thats one of the reasons I stay quiet.

There is a track in vegas I was in touch with regarding engines on older muscle cars at one time and it resolved nicely. Then they asked if I would like to visit and take one of their cars for a spin.

Would I? Are you kidding? One of these days we'll see how it goes. It aint the Nuberingring in Germany but I'll take it.

The last time I drove my drivers car home after that one teenager running across freeway with another found himself under my bumper and door, he dropped straight down to save himself. The car was fully committed and was going to take him out at 20. So he had to come up with something.

Walk 5 more minutes south and cross over at the james street bridge on that Jacksonville US 67 bridge.

We took the car to the shop at my expense to see about the pads and found all of them were bad. The back pads would not come off normally without also taking a sledge to the pins that holds the whole thing on there. Got super stressed by the stop. I had the shop put in new pins back there. The car did great but refuse to use the ABS even though there was some tire loss on traction. It was still about a 110 feet from 70 to 20. I don't think you could do much better than that.

We are getting ready to replace the shock towers in the front end. Thats going to be about a 800 dollar job for the pair. Its too bad the car has taken so much battle damage with potholes in our area. and thats why it's back in the shop again.

 

Yes, my wife hates my driving. Unless we are in her car. Then she's ok with me driving like a teenager trying to impress the girlfriend. What can I say though, that car IS fun to beat around. But mostly she nags at the wide turns, and when I dare to use the mirrors to parallel park. She hates that, and yells at me "That's why that backup camera is in there!"

As I get older, I've noticed how some of the nicest people I know suddenly become Mad Max when they get behind the wheel. One particular fellow is the pastor at my church. Super nice fellow, very calm and collected. Until he gets behind the wheel. Then he's Mad Max, doing all the things we as drivers hate. He's 51 years old and drives like a millennial. I'm a millennial and drive like a 51 year old lol.
