The old lady probaly needed to have her license or car taking from her but no one would step up and do it, I have seen it personally so many times around my way that and elderly person can’t drive anymore or has no business even having a license but no one will step up. It is sad!

Only a Doctor has the authority to sprout the necessary proclaimation in medical and legalese to the State to yank the license. But not without properly and duly counter signed and piles of served papers to the intended license yankee. (Interesting how that pun turned out. I think I'll keep it as written.)

In some jurisdictions the state troopers have authorization to pull them on the spot if they feel the licensee is a imminent safety hazard.

Yeah maybe I should have been more clear with what I was saying! I meant the family more so should step in but that may have not been the case at all.

Other side of the "too old to drive" coin is - my Father.
Retired in 1971 and spent 30 plus years going back and forth Pa. to Fla. as a Snow-Bird.
Racked up around 100,000 miles, and most times drove straight thru, but for gas and food breaks.
Last trip down I got a call from his neighbor that he was sick - I'd better get down there.
12 days later he passed. Don't make 'em like that anymore.
    Rest easy, Father of mine.

in my state, if the family cannot come to terms of taking away an elderly parents license, they can have the doctor do it for them. saves the family that heartache of disappointment from the elder.

Some of the tougher generation don't go to doctors, though. I had a few uncles and great uncles like that.

When she was 79, my mom went to the doctor for the first time in about 15 years because she had some pain. They asked her what medications she was on, and she said none. She said the nurse had a look of panic on her face when she heard that.

hell im 36 and when i got my physical a few months ago they asked me that same question. i replied with none and the nurse just looked at me...like i was joking or something. i haven’t been to the doc since 08. i bulged one disc and ruptured another yada yada. my family doc retired in the meantime so i don’t even know where i’d go, tbh.

Your absolutely right! When doctors and pharmaceutical companies weren’t constantly making up new diagnosis and meds to cure them and people just lived and dealt with pains they lived longer without taking anything! My great grandpa lived to be 90 and said he never had a headache and his bp was that of a 5 year old! I just take everyday as a blessing and when it’s my time that’s it! I would not want to live taking 16 different meds to counteract with the other

When your in pain. And the pain is too great to sleep at night. Then tell me you dont have any meds. For some (may not apply to the reasons of this article) the need for meds is just to be able to live. It isnt a matter of how staunch the physique is.
