Here a good example. When you deliver to some shopping centers they had Walmart store and Sam's Club. In back by all the loading dock nothing is marked to really say what docks is for Walmart or Sam's club. If you dropped trailer at wrong store. They will make you go back and move trailer then they would probably fire you unless you had like 15+ years.

Let me tell you what Walmart did to me. They told us we would all be home for Thanksgiving. Remember I did not work for Walmart they just dispatch all the truck that were dedicated to their DC. I had 1 hour Driving Time left for the day or week. They sent me 35 miles to deliver a store. Then I'm out of hours on Thanksgiving evening at the store. I'm only 40 miles from the house. They said I had to sit at their store for my break and could go home Thanksgiving day or something. I was mad because they already told use we would be home Thanksgiving evening, I told them I was very low on hours. They did not care they planned on making me sitting at the store all afternoon and night till I was legal to drive again.

thats why they are hiring more wm drivers. the outside carriers cant get the job done right. not to many walmart drivers dropping trailers in the wrong dock or running out of hours.

Walmart must have made big changes because when I did it. Everything started with the store delivery. The stores would get 2-3 trailer at end up of day because they would stock the store at night. They didn't store stuff in the stores. They had the trucks bring in everything that basically sold that day. That why they have the 4pm or 6pm or 8pm truck delivery.

Running out of hour was not because of outside driver could not do the job. The Walmart dispatch had and gave you paperwork the told you just how long it would take to drive. They had a cheat sheet that they used and said this is how long it will take you do the run. That's what I mean when I say they had everything planned out including how long it WILL take you log that run. This was before ELDs.

They said we would be home on the holidays. Guess what they did not keep their word. Instead they made use sit at that store and we did not even get paid for that. They did not say how they we would not be starting work untill 3-5pm. They did not say how they were to going how tell use to run our log books.

You see they don't tell all the little details. They talk about the big money you will make plus be home for all the Holiday and no touch freight and mostly drop and hook. That's why I can't wait to hear how they are running their truck from the DC starting at 7-9 am. Maybe the senior drives get, maybe the new drives get it. I will wait to hear more about. If Walmart is that good today I might apply for them. I would work 7am-9pm making $87,000+ a years if that how they do it today

Yesterday, which was my Friday, I worked a smidgen under 10 hours. Long story, but I was delayed at a DC waiting on an important load (which was delayed by early season snow), and after getting the loaded trailer relayed to another location, I chose to end my day. I could have hounded WM to run my hours out doing something else, but I chose to call it a week. Notice what I said (twice)...I chose. Nobody pesters you here from I've seen on how much or how little you run. Simply keep your ETD's updated to when you're available, and run the loads you're given.

So to answer that question, yes WM is ok with drivers only working 10 hours a day.
