Wool stays warm even when wet, they itch.
Cotton is comfortable, but lose their warmth if they get wet.
What winter socks would you recommend, best material for keeping feet warm?

a good pair of boots will trump any sock you can find. thick socks take up the space around your feet for heat to build and simply transfer the cold. when you aren’t moving they make you cold and when you are they make your feet sweaty (and then cold).

One man's winter is another man's tropical paradise.
These boots are just barely warm enough for winter where I live, rated for -60º F, and it gets a lot colder north of here.
Like most things, they are probably over rated.

Smartwool makes excellent socks. Their PhD socks are the absolute best socks i've ever owned, hands down nothing even close.

Lepton brought up the point about circulation and too tight of a sock cutting it off. But has the OP checked to make sure he has good circulation in the 1st place?

I thought most truck drivers were too poor to be able to afford socks. lol
My feet gets cold easy, and I have bought many different supposedly warm socks, the only ones that truly worked were a pair with battery powered heat in them. lol I only wore them once, but they did work well. I have a better and more expensive pair, but have never tried them.
I have bought every kind of cold weather boot a guy can think of, some rated for 105 below zero, I have no clue how they rate them, because it has never been that cold in north america at least, but my feet would litterly freeze in them at 30 below or more. I finally bought some rated at 148 below, and they have done the job so far.austinmike, FlaSwampRat, Tx Countryboy and 3 others Thank this. -
Wool socks are nice as they don't get as cold when they get wet. Regular socks work well if you change them out for a dry pair and double them up.

Unless from sweat, our feet do not get wet in the winter. lol
