I thought about LTL or linehaul, but I don't want to be home that much. I've found a regional gig that works. I can be home once a week if I want, or I can stay out longer and make more (hopefully, you never know). My family life goes best if I get home every three to six weeks for two or three days. More than that is too much.

Maybe extra board is what I should do, but from Denver wouldn't I end up bouncing out to Cali a lot if I stayed out three or four weeks? Utah and Nevada are nice, and I don't really mind running Cali, but it's not my favorite. Better than east coast for sure though.

Not at all sure about staying in hotels either. I hate hotels. Bed bugs.

What is Estes paying these days?

Listen dude, go extra board and just don't go home. You don't have to go home if you don't want

That’s what I was thinking. Go live in a van down by the river.

Let me explain the home thing. It's like this: We've known each other for 40 years. We've been married off and on for 25 years. She doesn't like it if I'm home too much because I drive her nuts, and when she gets nuts, I don't like it and want to leave. But we still love each other and like to spend time together -- sometimes. We talk on the phone every day.

So I've discovered in five years of driving that equilibrium is achieved with around two or three days of home time every three to six weeks. More than three days in a row is usually too much, and more often than two or three weeks is too much. More than five or six weeks out and I become just another crazy trucker who talks your ear off in the laundry room or at the counter in the Waffle House.

That sounds miserable as hell, but to each his own. Still, with Estes, you can stay out as long as you want. Central won't tell you no.

I'm actually quite content. I've had far worse times in life, and very few that were better, than this situation.
