Where is the money going to come from to pay people to clean up these new parking areas that will be getting trashed up as soon as they open? There are plenty of old weigh stations and closed rest areas that we could park but the garbage and poop bags pile up so much that eventually the state agencies block them off.

Good luck with that they will just bring in somebody else that don't care. Its all about trip planning & looking for a place to park before the 11th hour.

Fleet drivers are already told where to fuel and what routes to take, and now you want someone telling you where to park for the night? Amazing.

its their equipment.....and when the shipper/recvr take a long time to load/unload..its the carriers responsibility to get the truck moved when the driver has run out of time on his clock...

What you just said has nothing to do with providing parking. Do you really think it’s economically possible for every carrier to provide parking in every town that they may or may not pick up or drop off in this country? And if somehow they do provide parking what will happen when they direct you to park at a certain place but you have 90 minutes of drive time left? Oh Company X is screwing me on my paycheck because they’re forcing me to park early. If you need babysat to the point of being told what to do every second of the day I feel sorry for your employer.

I'm still wondering how the company is supposed to get the truck moving legally when the drivers clock has run out.
    Amazon drone delivers co drivers?
The best a ELD truck can do is PC mile it to a safe haven and take a nap.

Drivers can move truck when out of hours at pickup or delivery and no overnight parking. You use Personal Conveyance to First Safe Place to Park. Loaded or empty

What is it that is not being understood here? The government tells us how long we can drive. We need places to safely shut down. Demanding that they supply us with enough rest areas or other safe parking is not unreasonable. That tired old trope about "proper trip planning", or "my grandfather used 300 logbooks and never had an accident" is crap. The government sure as hell needs to step up and build proper parking. I pay taxes. They tell me when I need to stop, they sure as hell need to supply the parking.

It's pretty #### hard to find a place to pull over for a 30 when the rest areas and truck stops are all full, with trucks parked on the ramps and everything, between 6 pm and 6 am. God forbid you should need a quick 30 min nap to avoid fatigue. We pay fuel taxes. We pay high ### toll fees. We pay high registration and licensing fees. Is it really too much to ask for a safe pull out on easements the govt already owns? Just level it off and make sure we dont sink in, maybe pave it if they're feeling nice. A porta potty and trash can would be mighty generous but not important. We have to stop by law, but where do you stop when everything is parked up??

When it’s something the driver doesn’t want:
“The government needs to stay out of our industry”

When it’s something the driver wants:
“The government should help us because I pay taxes”

Lol. We used to have more places to park. We used to be able to park at empty weigh stations and such. But eventually they get barricaded off because it’s a full time job for someone to clean up the pee jugs and poop bags. That may play into people not jumping up and building more truck parking.
