Pretty much Sam Walton would be rolling over in his grave to see how corporate management has become in the way they treat employees long time dedicated workers and the public for that matter.... I know they're closing another store down in my area where I live.... There is a reason why Warren buffet dumped his Walmart stock.... he just doesn't do that for any old reason...

Noticed a 'hiring drivers' ad on the skirt of a walmart trailer. The ad said to apply at drive4walmart . com, I looked, apparently wm raised the pay to $87,500 / $90,000 per yr in 2019, could of swore I heard 84k on the old FM radio ad.

Unfortunately, without having a collective bargaining agreement (Union) they can do whatever they want to do. There is no law that they need to follow. It's called being an "at will employee". That simply means that they can fire you with or without cause. It also applies to recruiters who paint such a bright picture to get you to sign on the dotted line. It means absolutely nothing. Even if they put it in writing, it means nothing. The CEO of the company could put it in writing and 10 seconds later, they can change their mind. That's just one of many of the pitfalls in the trucking industry. I say, no thank you. I will continue to be a driver at my company where I am represented by the Teamsters Union.

I was “represented” by the Teamsters for 19 years. Then my company closed and we got a big screw you from our union.

I hope you are very close to retirement because the pension is a joke and getting worse. You are a brainwashed minion like I was.

I know people are going to ask. My company was Monson trucking out of Minnesota. Good luck.

Every job that I had where a union was involved they took money out of my check for dues and yet there was no representation for new hires or full/part time help.
    2006-Customer Service Representative
    United Airlines-Chicago O’Hare International Airport

    2009- Package Handler-UPS
    Boston Logan International Airport

These are my experiences (yours may vary)and based on that, the unions have been real s****** and have lost their way. The money that went to paying their dues I’m not getting back. That’s like some of these drivers doing a 1099 at a Chicagoland outfit and paying them to WORK FOR THEM! I’ve got better things to do and spend my money (and time)on!

Bud A. and drvrtech77 Thank this.

Since you were a Teamster Union member for 19 years, are you going to take the retirement from them when you finally retire?

Like a lot of places, they are going for the paradigm shift. They want younger, more "diverse" drivers to represent their brand. The ole Walmart "white cowboy" driver is what they're trying to get away from. Not to pick on Walmart, this is across the board.

All these companies are looking for young drivers, and especially racial diversity. But they'll settle for young white guys who wear Addidas if the others are not available.

Let's face it old guys, time to get with the program for survival. Observe the younger crew and imitate. Of course there are plenty of OTR jobs though. That's where they want us, cut off from society, out on the road, forced outside the city gates like lepers.
