Do a internet search for EPA fines Mercer Transportation and compare the date of the article to the date of his firing....

Mercer Transportation Company Inc. failed to verify that their contracted truck owners were registered with the CARB’s Drayage Truck Registry and failed to maintain records. The company, headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, failed to comply with CARB’s regulation governing drayage moves destined to or from California ports from 2015 to 2017. Mercer Transportation Company agreed to pay a $46,787 civil penalty.

I'm surprised companies just dont pull out of California all together. Let them starve.

Swift, and several other big companies, have let their California based OO's go because of the new state law making all leased operators essentially employees of the company, and entitled to all company benefits. I figure Mercer will be doing the same thing.

On another subject, whenever I was leased to a company that went through major changes over a relatively short period of time, they were either in the process of selling out or merging with another company, or trying to stay out of bankruptcy. Either way, it never worked out well.

If you could only see the California load board you'd know why.

All the loads on the board going to and departing California say ****California compliant truck required**** at the bottom of the load details.
