Which type of local jobs are seasonal or experience some type of slowdown during the year? Have an idea of a few but wanted to hear from others.

that's what i went thru with NEMF, as linehaulCardfan89, Texas_hwy_287 and authentic251 Thank this. -
construction depending on what part of the country you live in, can be year round. in other areas, they come to a screeching halt, due to snow, ice, and extreme cold...however a good number of those companies apply for snow plowing contracts, with cities/towns/states to supplement income for "some" of the senior workers that have CDL's for operating the plow trucks.
i also worked for a truckload carrier, we hauled cigarettes from the south and booze from KY, along with electronics to stores, and we went like gangbusters. only a slight slowdown of the electronics just after x-mass and up to about March(??)
so i think primarily, it would depend on the type of freight and demands over say general freight.Dave_in_AZ and authentic251 Thank this. -

Certainly no slowdown around here...

I don't look at them as slowdowns, I look at them a brief returns to normalcy. Right now we are working 40-50 hours a week on average but it will jump up the week before Halloween and then go nuts before Thanksgiving until Christmas.

The driver shortage often leads to slowdowns. Freight piled up everywhere.
Texas_hwy_287 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
i'm not sure what is going on here, but it's freakishly slow on linehaul, yet, at my terminal, freight is spilling of the docks for city.
This is highly unusual, unprecedented, and very strange.McUzi Thanks this. -
We slow down for the first 2-3 weeks of January, then income tax refunds start rolling in and it’s balls out until the following New Years. Foodservice life.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Anyone drive in the construction industry that notice any significant slowdowns at certain times of the year?
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
