    My 2 guesses are
    1) they learned more about trucking on TV and in movies where drivers always wear them.

    And 2) if they have sweaty hands the gloves help with gripping the steering wheel.

    I always just figured they thought they looked cool with them, I see them wear them inside the truck stop, why would you not take them off, unless you thought you looked cool with them on?

    There is a lot about new trucks and trucking I do not like, but I would hate to be without power steering again. lol It actually was not bad on a highway truck, just when manuevering in tight places, it may have even been a little better on the road, as you had more feel to it.

    Never wore those in my life.. I was equipment operator for 7 years before a trucker, spent all day outside in arizona.. The sun has done a number on my skin even being young but u would still not catch me dead with them silly things on ..
