As a company driver I was wondering if want to take a 34 H reset can the company say no and send me on a load?

Yes, if you have hours and are not claiming ro be ill or farigued then they can dispatch you to run off recap. The 34 reset is optional and does not have to be taken, it just makes managing hours of service simpler for most.
When I drove regularly I rarely ever took a 34, always have run recap since I started in 1990tscottme, Intothesunset, austinmike and 7 others Thank this. -
That, by the way, is me.Long FLD, buddyd157, Blowcanner1975 and 3 others Thank this. -

Hell with a 34. I usually do a 48-60hr reset lol.
Except this weekend. Gotta roll in 5hrs to make a 7am drop, then dh, reload and see if I can make it 7hrs back N.Intothesunset, FlaSwampRat, starmac and 3 others Thank this. -
I take a week reset, just to be safe.
tscottme, cke, Intothesunset and 9 others Thank this. -
34 is optional not a right. If you got the hours, you need to run them out.
Intothesunset, FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
You don't NEED to do anything... It's what the company (driver is secondary) wants to get done. But as the driver, you get to have some say in what you do as long as it's not unreasonable.
But to affirm the answer said above: Yes, if you have the hours and have not made arrangements for time off, then they can send you on a load; Providing that said load isn't going to violate your HOS. If you're home when time runs out, they may (or may not) care.Last edited: Oct 13, 2019

The only way the company will force a 34 hr reset is if you wont get enough hrs back to run a load, or broke down.
Intothesunset, FlaSwampRat and catdog45 Thank this.
