Pump to fill rears and transmission

i hop nobody gives me crap about this, but this will blow your mind. I bought this harbor freight 12v water pump a year ago to drain my 120 gallon fuel tank into a trash can to replace leaky valve under tank and then used it to refill the tank .
Then i used it to empty 40 gallons of hydraulic fluid out of my hydraulic tank. into a drum and then refill it again.

It emptied it like it was noones bussiness and refilled. Im not kidding either.
I will be using it again on monday to refil 4 gallons of trans fluid back into my eaton trans on monday.
What a dam good pump from harbor freight. I know the thicker oil will be hard onit but im sure i will pump it but hey i got my moneys worth out of it.

I have the pumps that go on 5 gallon buckets, one for each rears and trans. I have one that goes on a 16 gallon drum but don't use it anymore.
I actually have 3 of the ones for 5 gallon buckets, and do not remember the costs, but they were not expensive. These are just hand pumps.

 

In the shop I have a nice Lincoln hand pump for each fluid keg. I also have a cheap 5gallon bucket pump that gets used for about everything. Road calls/reusing fluids/etc.

Just get as much of the old fluid out as you can, give a couple pumps of the new fluid to waste, and fill what you need.

 

Drill hole in bucket lid, pull a tight fitting hose through it and into the oil. Tie a weight to it if needed. Drill another hole for a valvestem, and use a bikepump to push the oil out.

 

Seems like I got a free hand pump, with the 5 gallon bucket of gear oil, when I bought it. Still had to rig up a funnel and hose to fill boxes.

 

we've got the metal lids with the pump handle on each of the gear oil and trans oil pails, must be the good ones because they have been in use in our shop for over 30 years. I'm pretty sure they are Lincoln brand.

Ive transferred a few thousand gallons of wvo from 55gallon drums this way. Just remember its a big dang mess if you overpressure and pop something off. I painted half a barn and a whole dodge in like 3 seconds that one time.
