Oh I know they're out there. Typically though I don't really see anything decent for under $40k Cdn. I'm super picky though. An oil seep would drive nuts (dang OCD).

I hear you, and I knee this truck and it's maintenance history well. When the owner, a friend of mine told me he was going to sell it and at what price, I just told him to hang on while I get my check book. lol

It is all about the money and keep the wheels rolling.Fabulous Maximus, Zigzag777 and Intothesunset Thank this. -
It’s been sitting for three months because of my health issues, I may have to retire.FlaSwampRat and Intothesunset Thank this. -
Talk aside of something that makes money.
If I were do to OTR. I think I'd want a 7 mpg aero truck over a 4 mpg non aero hood.
On the other side of the coin. I"m a little weary of an older truck. You can do all the maint you want. But you can't stop the truck from literally falling apart.
Fiberglass and plastic breaks down just like anything else.
And when it comes to the officer or leo. I'd like to at least have a little pride in my ride. Not some raggety truck. That's going to get you harrased more then a decent looking ride.
My instructor taught me that people with a cluttered dash get inspected more then a clean dash. I would imagine that the same would hold true for the truck itself.
I have yet to figure out why drivers do that. Or how they can even find anything.
I had one trip at a time on the seat. And when delivered. In the envelope. And everything was always turned in weekly. I never had anything to pile on my dash.Fabulous Maximus, FlaSwampRat, Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
I can show you several old A model trucks running everyday, where pride in your ride driving a plastic aero will not even be comparable. Heck my old 88 freight shaker gets a sticker everytime the dot inspects it.
Age has zero to do with pride in your ride and as far as the dot thinking they look good, like anybody else they think them hoods look better than some old volvo.Fabulous Maximus, Tx Countryboy, FlaSwampRat and 2 others Thank this. -
I've talked to guys that bought new trucks recently and regretted selling their old pre DPF truck. As soon as the first month went by.Fabulous Maximus and starmac Thank this. -
For the most part that is right, I have run old big cam 11's that got upwards of 7mpg, but I will get 4 and under on some runs with mine, rarely over 5, and I get better than most trucks, new or old on the same run. so it depends on where and what you are doing. lol
Fabulous Maximus, FlaSwampRat and Intothesunset Thank this. -
Any truck that cost 40-60k is gonna come with a lot of problems. A lot of break downs, a lot of down time. What is it, 85% of owner ops go out of business within 2 years? This is why, Old truck. Tons of miles constant repairs equals failure

What is a big cam 11?
