Hello, i was wondering if anyone had issues with this doughnut gasket leaking. I had as exhaust stud break so I had to tear everything down. After I put everything back together and do a air leak test, seems to leak from there. Done it according to Caterpillar spec 18lbs-in. Tried tightening it tighter and still leaking, I'm on my third seal. Anyone have any pointers? Thanks

what acert, mxs or bxs? by the doughnut gasket do u mean the entry into the precooler from the high pressure turbo with the v band clamp?

Spec is 106 + or - 18inlbs. Needs to be alot tighter then what you have it at. Do you have the steel backup ring installed as well?Oxbow, Art Vandelay, spsauerland and 3 others Thank this. -
Does anyone have a copy of "Special Instruction REHS1728"? I bought the service manual but it doesn't have that publication.

My engine is a mx . I am talking about the doughnut gasket from high pressure turbo to precooler, and I do have a steel backing ring over the doughnut. I tried different torque no luck still leaks.

That donut Wont seal up until you get the engine up to operating temp and building boost pressure. It is designed to slide up and down on the turbo housing. It's a poor design.
BoxCarKidd and Oxbow Thank this. -
Its holding pressure but, I can hear a slow leak and when I spray some soap water on it it bubbles up pretty good.
