New Trucker Going On The Road

Once your driving and stuff see how like the job. You can run all the number and see how much money he makes and see how much repairs are. Some times in trucking it's a lot or risk owning your truck and not a lot of pay. Today running ELDs you can't just keep running if you have a bad pay week. The truck repairs are cazy hight today if someone has a emission truck

 

Forget the word Career.

If that trailer comes around and takes out a family as in mashes them or kills them thats that for you 2000 miles from home.

Trucking goes through people like battle going through shot up soldiers...

 

Team driving has it's challenges. As long as you and your dad can work together, winter is coming on and it would be nicer to have a skilled hand working with you as you get miles under your belt, and hopefully it will help him out a lot also. The worst thing about team driving, I think, would be sleeping in a bouncing truck, esp if you are a backseat driver to begin with.

Husband is a lease operator at a main trucking company. I can't say that pay rates in all cases, have been that good. There are some loads that pay terrible, somewhere you hope it balances out. He usually stays out 2-3mo at a time, and takes about 5-7days off when he does come home. It will then take a couple of weeks to make up the lost pay, and the payments are still deducted.

Good luck. You have a good plan for now that benefits you greatly, and helps your dad out too.
