Was driving when I first started. This truck passed me & said come on cabover. I said you running 90 he came back you doing 25.
Followed him to next truck stop & I was asleep quick. Scared me I thought I was at normal speed

Most of the time I wake up in my sleeper berth I have no idea where I am. It takes a few minutes to cut through the sleep fog to remember what load I'm on and where I am.

Only exceptions are those 2-5 a.m deliveries that I have to use an alarm clock for. Can't sleep right when I have to deliver that early, and I always know where I'm at. I have never overslept yet (crosses fingers), and I'm #### glad that I don't have to do reefer anymore so they are much fewer in frequency now.

Not really trucking related (I was plowing and spreading salt in a one ton), but... Worked a 40 hour straight snow shift because my relief quit and my company cared more about money than anything else, and I admit I was happy with the hours working 45 all week then getting 40 on the weekend. Was on my way back to the shop and this white van wouldn't get out of my way cruising in the left just a few car lengths behind a couple tractor trailers in the right lane. I was cranky more so than tired. So I speed up to about 80 in a 65 to get past him and cut back over in the left to pass the tractor trailers. This van comes up hot and passes me then brake checks me into the right lane. I floor it and get back in front of him. He comes back up on the right and I keep speeding back up until he gets stuck behind another tractor trailer. He keeps tailing me and I realize how big of a butthead I've been just because I wanted to get home so I pull off the next exit thinking he will just keep cruising and that'll be the end of it. Nope. He follows me and soon as I merge onto the primary I see blue lights. Was a DOT cop the whole time.

Well, it's obvious that he didn't stand you up against a snow bank and shoot you so would you share the rest of the story?

We argued back and forth for a few minutes. Everything he was trying to get me for I told him he was doing the same, plus he was just cruising down the left lane not passing anybody that's against the law as well. His excuse was he was on his way to a call and I told him nobody responds to a call cruising 60 in a 65 with no lights on. He finally let me go and said he'd be calling my supervisor and DOT monitor. So I went and told them both before he got a chance to. They both laughed at the story.

Always hear people that say they argued with DOT but never seen anyone do it.

Well I was a state contractor at the time and now a state employee. State police and DOT are like "same company different branch" kind of co-workers.
