Get used to uberization for better or worse. Coyote, XPO, JB Hunt are going that path too, making visible effort in gearing their apps towards automation. They all already allow bidding and click-booking. I think, CH Robinson, TQL, Schneider will eventually do the same.
Still...on the same XPO load I was able to get $100 more by calling a direct number to a specific person I knew from my previous deals than from what the app counter offered. I simply, dissatisfied with the counter offer, called the guy and requested reasonable money... York, PA - Columbus, OH instead of $ 600 , I got $ 700 which which works for me.
Mind you, that load was nowhere else posted, so I would not see it without the app. These apps postings start with low rates.
As a matter of fact, one DAT loadboard is not enough, if you do spot market only. They don't post all their loads there.

It's going to be really nifty when freight turns back around for trucks. It's very doubtful I will be posting my truck up for any loads at all then. Very seldom post it up for the past year anyway as it is. Might even get rid of a loadboard subscription.Last edited: Oct 22, 2019

Everyone loves posting a good haul but never wants to post that cheap load they hauled...

Yep SC is a terrible reefer market and been that way for a long while now. Doesn't mean he didn't get a good load though. Never understood why some guys would ##### about a round trip rate, or very close to it, going to a dead hole. Those are winners and I will book them every time. Deadhead out or grab the most convenient easy cheap load to get out of there. No way to lose really.

Everyone will score every now and then on the spot market. But all it shows is that someone got lucky and good for them.
I always say that it is the market that says how much you will haul for, not the other way around. The only choice you have is to haul very few loads or nothing all. Negotiation skills ...? yeah... but not to the extent that someone will be getting $200-300 more per load on the same lane than me on consistent basis.86scotty Thanks this. -
