Have you considered attending the CDL class at a state vo-tech school like chattahoochee Tech in Kennesaw ?
its $1600 and a very good class
360 hours I think
They are a certified third party tester , if you pass the class, you get your CDL .
They have a fleet of brand new trucks , couple sleepers , couple day cabs, flatbed and vans
the instructors are mostly retired UPS long haul drivers , with many many years experience
please don’t obligate yourself to a $7000 personal loan from a trucking company for their three week class from their in house “school “
If you have a squeaky clean driving record , a good FICO score and good credit with no foreclosure or judgments or liens etc
And no criminal record , there will be a recruiter from an Atlanta based heavy haul company there that is a very good company to work for.
This company will hire grads from
Chatt tech , and train them for oversized heavy haul loads
they pay 10% of the gross while you’re in training, for the first year you will be the night watchman , to keep an eye on the cargo while parked at night , you can watch movies , play video games or read , and make the check calls at the required times , as long as you don’t go to sleep
After about 3 months of this they will let you occasionally drive when empty ,
Pay is 20% of the gross ,after 12 months when you become a driver
They have nice assigned rigs , W-900-L 72” sleeper .and zero turnoverLast edited: Nov 7, 2019
