I agree with you insofar as those who have a poor command of the English language can have a tendency to be careless in life's other aspects. :thumbright:

It matters what your present situation is if it is worth it.

    1. Make $ enough to pay your bills and cover all future scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

    2. Don't do anything to lose your CDL.

    3. Repeat...

Act like your poor, even if your bank account says otherwise. My company grosses 3 million per year and I’m still trying to save $20 here and $50 there just as I was when I was poor. Most people the more they make, the more they spend.

Your also going to have to be very good at negotiating. Everything in this business is one big negotiation whether it’s to make more revenue, or save on your costs.

I was gonna start a topic asking my question, but maybe it belongs here instead of cluttering up the board.

Anyway, I believe I have enough money saved to buy a new truck, and have a few dollars left over for some expenses if they come up. My problem is, while I have desire and about 7 years behind the wheel, it is knowledge I need. Learning everything from taxes, equipment needs, licensing, etc, basically everything it takes to put the truck on the road and get rolling, and keep rolling. I. Know. Nothing. Are there trucking companies that will let you buy one of their new trucks, teach and hold your hand step by step? Or companies that will hold your hand if you just buy a truck from a dealer and sign on? If so, which companies? Schools for newbies?

There’s a bunch of Companies that do. Name just about any Mega, the problem is, your under their control, and at their mercy. It rarely ends well, for the so called O/O. Best to learn all you can, from others first. There’s plenty of warnings to be heeded, from others, that don’t want anyone else to get burned. This forum, if searched has threads for just about any question you have. It’s a very valuable tool. Wish I had it when starting out, myself.Thats what I meant by desire. You can figure it all out, easier than ever. Do research, play with hypothetical #s scenarios, running your Company Truck as if it were yours. See how much you’d make. But running under someone else’s Authority, usually involves buying a Truck, paying 2290 HUT, getting Collision, Fire, Theft coverage, and signing onto a Carrier. Now your fate is in their hands. They’ll usually pay for all or a portion of plates, permits, fuel taxes, and PublicLiability Cargo Ins. Sometimes deducting costs, from your settlements. They’d be more than happy to hold your hand, and tell you exactly what to do. That’s why you have to be carefull, they’re only helping themselves get rich, while your barely making Just enough to survive.

I have to with respect, disagree. I’ve seen so many Succesfull Buisnessman, who had terrible English, but good communication skills. I’m sure many were bad spellers also, it’s a very common problem for many. On the other hand, I’ve seen many a smooth talker, Uneducated Con Men. Don’t Judge a book, by its cover. Tha main thing is overcoming fear and speaking up. Nobody’s a Mind Reader. Better to be yourself, Trucking is a nuts and bolts Bussiness. No need for Aires. Most can see right through it anyway.
