"CrazY" is more WHEN than WHERE. We (you and I) should be 'the warrior in the garden rather than the gardener in the war.'

When SHTF, you and I won't have much say about when or where, or if we are ready or not.

I want to have one ready on a night stand while asleep at little populated rest areas, truck stops and especially when deciding to go to an open gate receiver and staying there for a night.
The idea of having it disassembled while awake is good.... At least, if they search the truck and find some components, they will not accuse me of outright lying.

First off, I don’t see how a person could carry OTR and be legal, because not all states will welcome your firearm. Then you have ports, military installations, and the such that can give you trouble. I say this to just say, be careful.

Your person is the best place to carry your firearm, just remove it and store in a safe place when you get to customers, which most won't like a gun on your side on their property. Or at least have it concealed good as to not cause problems.

I carry daily, but we don’t run OTR, and are only in states that recognize my carry permit. I did go to Redstone Arsenal a few weeks ago and had to remember to leave my gun at home. Although they didn’t search the truck, I’d hate to find out the penalty for carrying a firearm onto a military installation.

I agree 100%, I would not even want anybody to know nor have any bit of suspicion. Never been to a military base or a prison yet to pick up or deliver. I just wondered if there is any way to stay legal 100% everywhere, if it must be disassembled, so be it but of course I would not burry it under a stone somewhere to dig it up later.

I’ve been to a prison armed before . It was a mistake on my part, and when I found out they wanted me to go behind the fence ( very detailed search), I had to fess up. They were completely understanding and just took possession of the gun while I was behind the fence. It would have been a lot worse if I hadn’t told them and they found the gun in the search ( I would have been charged with bringing a firearm into a penal institution). I don’t know the punishment for that crime, but I bet it’s harsh.

I’m not so sure the military would be so accommodating.

Yes there is. It’s called the Firearms Owners Protection Act. You do have to follow its provisions to the letter for it to apply. In firearm friendly states carrying in a vehicle is not a problem but in firearm unfriendly states follow FOPA exactly and you should be ok, even in NY except NYC where they will arrest and prosecute you regardless of FOOA.

To be clear, no part of NY will honor FOPA. I've spent most of my life in this gulag, and every week it seems there's a report about someone passing through NY getting arrested for non-NY-compliant firearms.

One of the reasons I like being secluded.

A lot of times it seems people put themselves in those situations and make themselves targets. I had a crackhead try and creep on me a while back. Spotted the SOB and told him to piss off before he even made it within 30'. Walk with purpose, stay alert to surroundings and you intimidate most of those weasles right off the bat.
