It's a shame how that part timers get no ####s given about them. I got to see it first hand as a shop steward within UPS. We always used to talk about what would happen if they showed up in force, how the contracts would change. How much less we would get and how much more they would get. Like I was saying about the pay progression for drivers the wait for health insurance went down the same way for part timers because there was nobody there to object to any changes. When I hired on in 97 it was 90 days to get benefits (pretty normal), when I retired in 2018 it was 18 months I believe before you could get your family on. The whole draw to that job for anyone who didn't want to drive was the healthcare. we had a ton of small business owners that worked there for years just for the healthcare but now they are making that difficult so they are getting help that is not as good as they used to. Nobody wants to drive anymore and you gotta wait a year and a half for benefits....part time job....not getting the best people anymore lol.

No. We lost all retirement benefits when Monson shut down.

I would’ve had to move to get another teamster job because there were none available anywhere close to my home.

I could have kept my card active and worked non union and collected a small pension but I chose to not do that for approximately 21 more years. The amount of the pension was not enough to warrant it.

I’m not sure what the pension was because that was 13 years ago. I do remember it wasn’t enough to mess with.

I can almost guarantee your experience would have been different if you guys were Local 25 and had Sean O'Brien looking out for you. I'm not a union supporter by many measures, but even I know here in a non-union spot on the South Shore, that the guy is a god ###### pitbull against companies he bargains against.

you can't lose "all retirement benefits" with 19 years in, youre vested under any plan.

and whats this "keeping your card active"? you mean paying the 50 cent withdrawal fee so you don't go into arrears?

btw, heding truck service, out of Wisconsin. ibt shop, does the same stuff as Monson. go over there and get more time in.

One of our drivers applied and interviewed at the Coldwater, Mi DC. He said they have to sign a form to release their phone records over to WM whenever they ask for them. He said during the 14 hr clock you're allowed to make 6, 10 min phone calls. The trucks are slip seated when you get back to DC AND they have to be "detailed" by you the driver. He didn't take the job.

They can't just say, Hand over your phone records. You have to be in an accident or have an "incident" (like hitting a stationary object behind a store). Random phone checks do not exist.

Not necessarily. Everyone has different needs. Different things that are important to them. If he was abiding by things that would be a deal-breaker for him, then he did the smart thing.
