You knew going into it that you had to pay dues, you also knew that a full time offer was not guaranteed, so I don't understand why you have a beef with the union, the union does not hire or fire people, only the employer can do that.

As I described previously, this was based on MY EXPERIENCES and based on what I’VE EXPERIENCED having a union based job isn’t all it’s cracked up to be-and I’ll just leave it at that.Last edited: Oct 30, 2019

already gone Thanks this.

As it is a union job isn’t the “be all,end all” solution it used to be years ago when they were doing their job properly. The GM strike is living proof of that.Last edited: Oct 30, 2019

you want to be mad at your situation, thats fine. but to blame it on others is wrong....
and gm is still a better job than any non union trucking company....FlaSwampRat, skinnytrucker and p608 Thank this. -
And lastly there’s some folks in Lordstown,Ohio
(and to a lesser degree,Janesville,Wisconsin)who are not too happy with GM right now.
And as I said before I’m making more money now than I have with any previous job-union or not.
Let sleeping dogs lie where they are. -
Not the unions fault but that’s gonna be a heck of a commute for those boys.
skinnytrucker Thanks this. -

Back to the subject matter at hand, I did a weekend at the DC in Tomah,WI. They have We’re Hiring signs staked into the ground near the employee entrance,as well as the usual Walmart trailer with the We’re Hiring banner draped across it. Talk to some of the drivers who are based out of the Menominee DC. Couple of them were cashing in their chips and taking an early retirement because some of the drivers had their routes given up to newbies. If that’s an indication it’s pretty much the calm before the storm, so to speak.
foggy Thanks this.
