Depending on how crafty you are..
pick a spot in your dash where you can cut an opening out large enough for the gun to fit in up to the trigger guard. Then mount a kydex holster (with retention) to the back of the dash. Looking from the cab it will look like a regular storage cutout.

Depending on the type of seat, you can fab some sort of bracket to attach a holster to that will be sturdy in pot hole country.

A few of our drivers carry. When behind enemy lines, they clear & stow under the bunk so it falls under the "peaceable journey" provision when just passing thru.

You will get more reliable answers asking gun experts about gun law than asking trucking experts about gun laws.

The National Rifle Association has a good web page to answer such questions. Or so I am told.

I'm sure and was hoping that there were those among us who are responsible, not looking for unnessecary trouble and explored the subject in depth.
My own impression is that the local law(s) are so convoluted and diverse, contradicting each other that there is no universal answer. In other words, there is always going to be some risk of an unwarranted arrest involved. Hopefully, very temporary and any charges dismissed quickly.

I was interested more of the legalities of possession in CMV for the purpose of travel rather than finding a way to camouflage the weapon inside.
I need it ready at high risk places and while asleep at certain places. While driving and on everyday business activities I don't need it. It can be hidden and disassembled, like mentioned above.

I think once you get your CDL you should automatically have the right to carry in your truck and have it posted on your truck.."Driver is Armed";)
Can you imagine the shootouts at the fuel island :D

In an ideal world, that would be the case. Unfortunately that’s not where we live.

I keep my shotgun rolled up in the window curtain. Better not to say when, where or if. CCW means concealed, as in not advertised.

There is no federal law prohibiting guns transported in the cab of a truck, company policies yes, but they are not law. The rest is subject to personal opinion. I don't believe companies have a right to override constitutional rights. What you do with it is your choice. I do have a ccw but that is generally not good out of CA, but depends on the states and county, sometimes the city. Get a ccw in the county you live in, that's a start. A fire extinguisher is probably a better self defense weapon in a sleeper than a firearm, discharging a firearm carries a lot of responsibility I won't go into here.
